    Hello all,

    I could use some assistance.
I've searched the forums and couldn't find a solution.
I've created a full backup to Acronis SZ before installing the Startup Recovery Manager.
Now, I've after I've installed it - I want to remove it, but there is no such option.

I tried selecting Tools-->Activate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager-->Do not Activate... But that didn't work.
It seems like TI didn't backup my old MBR so it can be easily restored.

I have 2 options now - Use fixmbr from XP's Recovery Console (Which I don't trust).
Or use my Image and restore just the MBR.

    1. Is there something I'm missing ?
    2. What happens if I remove the Acronis SZ ? Will my computer boot (because the code in the MBR starts the application from the SZ partition).

Sorry for the long post, I've really searched the forums, and tried all the suggestions there (someone wrote that from TI7 there is a deactivation, but I can't find it in the application nor TI's help and KB)

    Thanks in advance,
    Idan.

    Hello idanmashaal,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup software

Could you please boot your computer with Acronis Bootable Rescue Media and try to deactivate Acronis Startup Recovery Manager?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

By deactivating - what do you mean ?
There is no such option - or I'm missing it...

Could you please walk me through ?

    Thanks.

    Hello idanmashaal,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

To remove Acronis Startup Recovery Manager you need to either fix the drive MBR (by using Window XP installation disk, or any of methods described in the Acronis Help Post), or remove Acronis Secure Zone using Acronis True Image interface. In the latter case Acronis Startup Recovery Manager will be automatically deactivated as well.

    Thank you.

    Hi Marat,

It's a bit wierd, that a superior product such as Acronis True Image can't deactivate it's Recovery Manager.

At least, a warning message about that would be gladly appriciated.

If Removing the SZ can restore my MBR, why isn't there an option for restoring it w/o loosing my backup.

On a diffrent approach - is there a way for me removing the SZ but still keep the backup ?

    Thanks,
    Idan.

If Echo hasn't changed the standard SZ setup, you might take a look at these links and see if you can get your backup out.
