I have just upgraded to Vista 64 Home Premium and when I attempt to install True Image 2009, the downloaded filename is trueimage9.0.3854_s_en.exe, I recieve 2 error diaglogs having to do with drivers not being digitally signed. The drivers are tifsfilt.sys and timntr.sys. When this occurs, Vista will not restart, I have to select the last known good configuration. This file is the one that I just downloaded from the Registration site.

Google reveals nothing definitive, and I found nothing specific here. Per the compatibility chart, it says all version of Vista are supported, but this is a killer. What is the policy for these drivers? Is there somewhere I can download an installer that has appropriate drivers? If not, or if there is no solution, then I guess it is off to find a different solution.

I have searched My Account for any way to download an Update, but no luck.

    Hope you can help,

    Thanks.

ps. With luck this will be something simple that I missed. I am sure not immune to Stupid User Tricks ....

The file you're downloading is the last build of TI 9, not TI 2009. TI 9 does not support being installed in Vista.

If your TI 2009 download link is sending you a TI 9 file, you'll probably need to contact Acronis Support and get it fixed.

You should also be able to download the TI 2009 trial version and unlock it with your serial number.

Thanks, MudCrab, more than enough information here to get me on the right track. As I noted in my initial post:
"ps. With luck this will be something simple that I missed. I am sure not immune to Stupid User Tricks ....", both turned out to be true, something simple I missed and a REALLY Stupid User Trick.

As it turns out, once I upgraded my old Version 9 to 2009 things worked much better. I saw the '9', and my feeble mind equated them.

Thanks for the hints, boy do I feel embarassed.

Did I read that correctly? We can unlock the TI 2009 trial version with the TI 9 serial number?

Is it then no longer a trial version?

I am having the same problem, and it is very frustrating. After installing TI 9 I get the error message about the unsigned driver (timntr.sys) and when the system reboots, I get a BSOD which I haven't seen in ages on my edear departed XP Pro system. Then to make matters worse, when I try to reboot , I get the message that Windows didn't start up properly and both the Star Windows Normally and the Launch Startup Repair (recommended) give me the BSOD again.

At this point my oly recourse is to use the recovery DVDs I created when I first started the new system, therby losing all customization I might have done. When I repeated the process (and the error) I tried it before wasting time with any customization and other program installs other than Disk Director which doesn't seem to have any such problem (yet).

bdewey was downloading TI 9 instead of TI 2009 and already had a TI 2009 serial number. You can't unlock TI 2009 with a serial number from a previous version.

    Thanks for clarifying that, MudCrab,

I figured it must have been something like that. After all, that would be skipping several upgrades for free, and they are in the business to make money after all.

    Thanks again,
    Joe
