I find this a bit far-fetched... Ideally people shouldn't buy the product until the new owners have come forward explaining the situation. While that's OK with some of us who have already bought the program ages ago, where does that leave the new user who has tried the program and wants to carry on using it?

The only legitimate option new users have is to buy it, preferably from a Digital River affiliate so they can at least avoid passing their credit card details directly to the SD site and its unknown owners. The new owners will still get the money - which they do not deserve if the program has been highjacked - but at least the transaction will be safer.

And once again, lets stickie all the info on a dedicated thread - we can then direct new users to it and avoid a lot of repetition.

sdmod, I recently purchased SD and installed the latest build from the site. Can you help me with version 1.1.325 or any version that I should be using instead of the latest. Thanks

I go to the chinese forums and I don't see any communication or feedback to Chinese users either.
If any Chinese member has received feedback, support or communication of any kind at all from the new site please let me know.
Whatever people want to believe, the so called latest version 1.1.0.331 is not a viable option (in a security sense) because it does not have an active and "transparent" developer
    and
even though the developer is not now present for version 1.1.0.325, he was at the time of it's release.

Patrick, thanks for the feedback. It was just wishful thinking on my part. I should have guessed that you already investigated that possibility very thoroughly.

PS. I might suggest that instead of requesting email addresses from those who want the 325 setup file, why not simply upload it to a reputable host and post the download link here (as The Shadow did in post #680).

I seem to have a occasional issue that when I try to enter shadow mode it says please wait and it stays like that. It seems to be frozen and I have waited several minute and nothing happens. I believe I had this some time ago with vista as well.Does any one else experience this.I am using windows 7 HP 32 bit.

Just to rule out EMET I removed it and that does not seem to be the issue.I also put the excutable of SD in the power Apps of AppGuard to rule out interference.Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    djohn,
I had the same problem. I'm running on Win 7 premium 32bit. It normally happened when I had a program open and I tried going into shadow mode. Other times just straight from the start up screen. The problem hasn't came back after I uninstalled and installed it again. Not sure if that fixed it but haven't had it happen again.

Thanks Kjdemuth for the reply.I dont know if it's my imaginations, but it seems if I open the SD gui and enter shadow mode immediatley is when it happens. It seems like If I open the gui and wait a few seconds before enter Shadow mode it works perfect.Could be just a coincidence.

Seems to me that people are buying SD from its site, and receiving a license key without any problems. Without any proof of wrong doings what's been said so far is pure conjecture from our part.

That maybe that people are receiving legit license, but I doubt anyone will receive support if needed or even see updates for that matter Since there is absolutley no response from them.I have sent emails to SD to no avail and IMO it leaves a lot to be desired dont ya think.

I couldn't agree more. On the other hand if I had no license I'd want to have one even with no support. Look'n'Stop firewall is in the same situation and Frederic is not Chinese, ProcessGuard got my money but then I couldn't retrieve my license, if FirstDefense-ISR was available with or without support I'd buy it, what I'm trying to say is that given the strong interest in SD it is still a positive aspect that one can get a license without consequences.

Here's some more conjecture to complete the package: We don't know if the licenses issued by the current owners are legitimate or not anyway! For all we know they could be popping out keygen-generated serials which they then sell either directly through the SD website, or via Digital River affiliates. Their continued silence is very discouraging to say the least.

Why don't you just upload the version you have to a good file-hosting site?

It does seem very odd that you are asking for an e-mail and not just using an file-hosting service.

Patrick (sdmod) has been here with us for some time now and his intergrity is intact.Email is not a big deal, it could be a deposable email as far as he knows and It just maybe easier for him to link the downloads. As far as I am concerned, its just like a friend or family member having your email.cheers

Just to be clear on this, I've uploaded all off the versions to a file hosting site in the past (you can check on this forum) but prefer to deal with it personally now.
No emails are kept and are deleted immediately after I have communicated with the member.
nb The questions I get from members are sometimes about something other than the download/upload itself.

Putting aside Patrick's well deserved good name and reputation for a moment, it seems bad form to me, (when you are looking for a service or favor from someone who does not owe you one), to criticize the method by which they make an offer or imply that there is something "fishy" about it if it doesn't meet with your liking.

The simplest thing for you to do in such a circumstance is to get satisfaction elsewhere...especially if what you are doing causes you to be concerned about maintaining your privacy (for one reason or another).

Well I appreciate that sdmod is still offering support. :D. I see no harm in giving him your email address. He is a member of Wilders Security after all. :D

For those who prefer downloading SD from a web-host, my upload (post #680) is still viable - just be sure to read my download instructions noted in the post!

I'll throw in my two cents and vouch for my friend "The Shadow" as well. I've downloaded, scanned, tested and run one of his proffered versions and am still here to tell the tale. ;) :thumb:

Hey guys, thanks for the vote of confidence, but I do understand the reluctance potential users may have about my upload.

I want to respond here to questions that I have received via pm:

    • The uploaded files are authentic setup files (32 & 64 bit) - no licenses/serials are included.
    • I uploaded these files as a courtesy - I don't receive credits or other value when you download them.
    • These setup files (like all SD setup files) will trigger some scanners. Rest assured those are false-positives!
I have now uploaded these setup files to zippyshare: http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/65043648/file.html
Click-on the orange rectangular box on right-side of screen with: 'DOWNLOAD NOW' (avoiding the iLiVid ads)!!!
