Yep, same here. No issues whatsoever for me on Windows 8.1. Shadow Defender always feels rock solid, to me.

    On the bright side..

SD folks were fast to issue a refund once we determined they were unable to fix the issue until it was investigated more. Literally - 1 hour for the refund. For that I am quite thankful.

I simply cannot risk another catastrophic destruction of my OS installations.

Glad they were rapid to satisfy your expectations with the refund.

No problem at all on Windows 8.0 of which.IS NOT getting updated EVER. But when i do pick up another machine with 8.1 i am definitely gonna try SD. 457 on it.

I wonder if any other 8.1 owners have had issues. None i have read except this one unfortunate isolated case so far.

I do have a problem on Win 8 using version 1.3.0.457 (and other previous versions), namely when I assign RAM as Write Cache (usually 3GB out of 8 total) the computer often hangs forever when trying to exit shadow mode, having to use the power button to shut down and restart the computer. Using SD with default settings (without assigning any RAM) there are no issues.

This is not the first time I'm reporting this problem, and frankly I'm quite happy to use SD without Write Cache, but I wish this issue would disappear with every new version of SD.

    Hi Osaban
Have you reported it on this occasion to support@shadowdefender.com ?
I've not heard from Tony for months even though I've written to him with members problems and translations. I'm not sure what the problem is but this is nothing new.

Well I have reported it here and in the SD forum as well with no replies. As I said, SD works perfectly without Write Cache assigned, this is the most important thing.

Osaban, I think it's worth a try to email Tony as on the forum everyone is waiting for the new release and it's just ticking over. There will probably be a surge of activity and interest when the next release appears. Other members have received replies from Tony about bugs when I have not...but I don't know how consistantly.
I've just updated the forum software to the latest version today so it should be really whizzy lol
As for myself I'm still using 1.1.0.325 on XP sp3 and happy enough at the moment without the add ons.

Has anyone heard anything from Tony? I haven't heard from him for months and he has not replied to my forum members or myself about bug or support emails or acknowledged translation uploads. If he is communicating with someone, then at least we know that he is still about.

    Thanks

He and I emailed each other about 3 weeks ago. I asked if he could find a old license of mine and he was able to.

Thanks trjam I'll give him another call from a different email just in case it is being blocked by the Great Firewall in that country.

I've just renewed the shadowdefenderforum.com domain so hopefully things will pick up a bit during the year. I've recently emailed Tony from a different email and still had no reply so I'll leave it in the lap of the Gods and see what happens. :)

Hi Brocke. My experience using Shadow defender has been very good, I recommend you get yourself a license. I don't think a program like SD needs too many updates, in fact, I like version 1.2.0.346 so much that I aint moving from it (on my XP and W7) unless a vulnerability is found and patched on a newer version.

Slow on updates? ....there were 7 updates in 2013.

    I'm with Bo - it's a terrific program!

You should do Windows updates out of Shadow mode.

Just don't enable Shadow Mode (on the system volume) when you wish to update; perform all necessary updates (restart if required), then enable Shadow Mode. ;)
