    Unless your email is end-to-end encrypted, it's readable in transit. Depending on context, governments may not be most dangerous adversaries.

    THE government? I thought there were some 200 governments in the world.

    Of course, and it does not matter what laws are passed for it or against it,
    it will still be done, encryption is your only answer and it better be a strong one at that

    The Government is a subjective term for whoever reads that - in whichever country.
    In some countries, it's a given, so the title blunts the privacy implications.

    I've always gone with the assumption that anyone can read my emails.

    If you don't end-to-end, that's certainly true.

    But even if you do encrypt, it's potentially true. With that in mind, I don't write anything dishonerable.
