Yep, it was something called "Zeppelin".

The first ever antivirus I had contact with was avast!, pre-installed on PC. It was version 4.8 I believe and it did have those nice alerts on the bottom right of the screen (had to be enabled) that told you what was detected/scanned :D So when you did open something, it started spreading all over the screen.

Well, avast! has always been my favorite AV of all times. I think it's influenced by the fact that it was my first (and the first free I had contact with). I just like it ^^

It has come a long way protection wise as well. It has always been the best product when it came to malware scripts and exploits and now it has extended even further with Auto Sandbox and cloud/remote processing of data.
Just look at the latest tests. avast! v7 was very good but not exactly up with the big boys. But this February (2013) the detection jumped like crazy. Auto Sandbox has never been this active before and the Evo-Gen detection is almost insane. It detects pretty much everything you throw at it.

    @ RejZoR,
I'm referring just about the thread / 1st post,
not about the avast software which imho is great.

Avast has improved a lot in every aspect.

New EvoGen & FileRep into RealTime protection seems good. I read some MDE is also coming...

Hope BB in future version provides active protection (Currently in passive mode BB helps Avast in threats detection)

AutoSandbox analyzes & threats found are quarantined, threats not found gives options to continue normal & close, no option to sandbox, I think there should be an option to sandbox.

Sometimes posting pictures can help remind us of a time, To bring up what it once was and what it is now (Discussing it's Improvements, Implementations/features, etc.).

The discussion isn't only about the evolution of it's GUI, but the evolution of avast! in it's entirety.

So it was called Zeppelin, I can't believe I still remembered that. Thanks for confirming that.

avast! will always be my favorite as well, unless they screw it up somehow, but I highly doubt that.

I used to always enable the 'simple user interface' to get rid of the 'stereo' theme in the old school Avast.

Confession: I use to avoid Avast 4.6 on any machines cause I hate/hated the radioish look.

I never liked the v4 interface, was too weird, but I used it regardless.
The current one, v7 is fine, v5, v6 were ok, even though a menu toolbar would be preferable in my book (the more standard, the better).

If they really change it to the tiles look, I will drop avast.
Let's hope they give us an option to use the normal look vs that tiled stuff.

I like the current interface (minus the smiley face). That said Avast is going to be hard to beat this year me thinks. ;)

The Devs said on the avast! forums that the UI is final, both in terms of design and color contrast. I think it's hard on the eyes with the lack of contrast.......Looks washed out. :thumbd:

I am not talking about the manual sandbox.

Do you mean in paid version autosandbox along with continue execution & close options sandbox option is also there?
