Whoa, nice :) Can't wait to test it on my phone. Looks great and i hope it also works great. I wonder what features will be under "free" moniker. Having firewall would be a nice addition, but anti-theft features will be premium for sure.

Just got a word from Vlk. avast! Mobile Security will be offered free of charge with all the features mentioned above. They might change that in the future but for now, they have no plans for that. Can't really beat this offer really as no one provides so many features for free.

    Great news.

So far so good. Have to tool through more of the settings. SD card scanning is really slow though, have to say.

Scanning of SD cards is always slow. Other than that i love it. The best interface i've seen to date (the closest one is DrWeb light).
Nice features, everything is well organized and placed. There are really only minor visual glitches here and there like round and square progress bars, a bit rough statusbar icon (on the edges), but other than that it looks and feels very solid.

Not all scan sd cards slowly. I had decent success with a few others. I will prolly come back to it after awhile though. Let me know if your battery life suffers while having this installed.

    Thanks.

The reason why SD Card scanning is not as fast as with some other apps is that avast actually opens the files and reads their content, while some other apps basically just scan the app ID's (all they do is basically maintain a list of bad app ID's, without implementing proper scanners).

    Thanks

Is this going to be available in the android market? Also is the anti-theft the same as TheftAware?

Of course. It's already there, see the link in the first post.

It's a new version of TheftAware, with some additional improvements in it.

    Thanks

Ok thanks. I was actually on my phone reading this thread and overlooked the link. When I searched the Market Avast was not showing up in the search results which is why I asked at that time. I just searched again and Avast is now showing in the results. Thanks, looks like a winner.

    @vlk,
    Re: "System Requirements
To run avast! Free Mobile Security your device must meet the following criteria.

    Operating Systems Supported

    (1) Not yet for Android 3.1 and 3.2 ?

    (2) Works on tablets or just the smartphone?

USA still the best. But barely.
Can I point to an individual .apk & scan it? My limited experience with other Android AVs has been fruitless in this regard. And any ETA on a final version?

Can't wait till it's final. The screenshots show the most options I've seen.

Yes, it will probably take a while till the app gets to the top of the list when you search for "avast". As of now, when you search for avast, it comes as #6. The first three positions are taken by AVG, Lookout and Zoner  .

Sorry, this is not possible atm.

It will be released as soon as we iron out all the bugs in the beta version.

    Thanks

I have over 50 apps installed on my phone and it takes few seconds to scan them all. So scanning individual APK makes little sense if you ask me. Unless you want to scan it on your SD card which take longer to scan the entire SD card. That however makes some sense.

I have 3 false positives I'm trying to upload. But I keep getting a failure message. Anyone else?
