The person who got infected has decided to upgrade the PC (Motherboard, Memory, CPU, Operating System) to an AMD 6 Core CPU + 8 GB RAM + New ASUS Motherboard + Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. As a precaution, I told him that it would be best to "wipe" the hard drives before they are re-used for the new PC build. Hopefully, he will "wipe" the hard drives.

thanks to you i just found about that Avast tool (aswMBR).
it is small and easy to use.
a good complement to MBAM or Hitman, methinks.

He did not "wipe" the hard drives. He installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and then worked on installing the Windows updates. He said that during the Windows update process that the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool said that it detected and 'partially' removed the Zeus Trojan.

you know, it would be impossible to pound common sense into some people even if one were to use a sledgehammer. ;)

If I told my cousin to "wipe" my drive they'll probably do it.... with a cloth. :D
