taskbar/windows explorer freezes

My system specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 Black Edition
RAM: 778MB
HDD: 35GB System Partition.

Setup:
Windows XP SP3 Pro under LUA and SRP.
Peerblock
K9 Web Protection
Prevx SafeOnline
MBRGuard
Deepfreeze



Scenario:
Whenever I'm doing some not so very intensive tasks and using around 60-70%
of my system resources.



If I open "My Documents" (which is empty most of the time) from the taskbar... whole taskbar definitely freezes, I cannot click anything on it...
the My Documents window will open but also freezed.

I have to manually end explorer.exe process from the taskmgr using ctrl+alt+del and re-start process to remove the freezing taskbar/explorer


I know my harddrive is failing because of its age... but its not happening when I'm using other security apps.
I suspect its the realtime scanning of prevx that's making my pc freeze :<

I disabled Heuristics and also tried to override explorer.exe but the problem are still occuring.

Please do investigate

Could you possibly save a scan log and send it to report@prevxresearch.com? We should be able to look further from there!

 

I just did an image restore.
Removed MBRGuard.
Disabled Show Authenticating files screen.

waiting for problem to occur. I'll send a scanlog ASAP.

 

It freezed once this day.

looks like disabling the authenticating files screen... reduces the freezing taskbar/explorer possibility.

 

It happened again today..
taskbar/windows explorer freezed for 45secs after clicking Chrome in start menu .

Google Chrome opened without SafeOnlines protection balloon. So I closed and restart it.
the freezing occured again... after a while Chrome opened with SafeOnline balloon.

I closed Chrome and restart again... freezing did not occur now and everything works fine.

I'm confused :<

This time I'm unchecking Enhanced Rootkit Detection and lowered Self protection from High to Medium. I hope this will fix the issue.

 

Let me know what you find - there isn't much in the logs that would indicate that Prevx is affecting anything in realtime so I'd be curious to know if the problems still occur if Prevx is uninstalled or with the lowered settings.
