I upgraded from TI V7 build 597 to V7 build 634. After the upgrade I get this error message when I try to do a backup: "Failed to create the scheduled task. Error #1722 - The RPC server is unavailable".

Looking into WinXP SP2 service manager I see an entry for Acronis Scheduler2, which says the path is c:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Schedule2\schedul2.exe This path is invalid. The directory exists but is empty. Obviously this is why the service won't start.

I did find the file schedul2.exe in the installation directory, which is E:\programs\utilities\TrueImage, but I cannot update the path to executable using Windows Service Manager.

    What should I do?

PS I'm comfortable with editing the registry if that is required.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I saw that one, but when he says he "moved the files" he doesn't say which ones. Just the one file, schedule2.exe? I tried moving just schedul2.exe then starting the service with Windows Sevices Manager. I no longer get the error but the Commit Pending Operation dialog comes up blank and stays blank.

Sorry, I was to brief.
The easiest way is to uninstall ti and reinstall it on your C: (windows system partition).

Alternatively you could place the following files under:
    c:\program files\common files\acronis\CDrecord
    cdrecord.exe
    cygwin1.dll
    readcd.exe
    wnaspi32.dll

    c:\program files\common files\acronis\Drivers
    snapman_nt2kdel.inf
    timounter_nt2kdel.inf

    c:\program files\common files\acronis\Schedule2
    schedhlp.exe
    schedul2.exe

I advise you to go the uninstall / install variant. You can use the newest
    TI 7 build 638

Hope this is of more help.

    /edit typo removed

OK, thanks, maybe the uninstall/reinstall route is best, and thanks for pointing out the new build.

One question - why do you say install it on c:\ drive? Previous versions have worked fine on E:\...

The common files are expected by Acronis on the C: partition (in this situation). So by installing TI on C: you don't have to manually update the "common" files after every upgrade. I work here along: Better lazy than tired. :D

I chose the uninstall/install method and installed to my usual E:\... directory. I don't think that with version 8 out that there will be many more builds of 7. Everything works fine now :D

I appreciate the information you provided.
