Back in May it seemed they were heading only one way - toward the cellar.

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/3379288
"No baseball team in the last 90 years has had the kind of turnaround the Astros had this season. No team has revived itself after the kind of start the Astros had.

They awoke May 25 with a 15-30 record. Only one National League team was worse.

They'd been buried by the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central. They trailed 11 teams in the race for the wild-card berth."

Glad to have Pettitte in this year's post-season action. Will definitely need the bats to show up consistently - 'stros tend to strand men on base at times.
    Go 'stros!!!

This was a sweet victory - bats did show up & Pettitte gave up only 4 hits in 7 innings (2 were HR's by the Jones'). It's good to take the first one in a short series.

Looks like the Padres and the Red Soxs are going stick around just long enough for a cup of coffee. Down 2 games to zip. :D

Houston 7, Atlanta 6, 18 innings. Nothing easy about this one. :D

As Leo said, "It isn't over until........." This game was full of new records and memorable moments. Out of pitchers and position players, the Astros battled on against a really tough team. Facing the Braves in the opening series was a major concern. Toward the end of the game, I think the Astros were ready to activate Nolan Ryan from the stands if necessary. The season to date was recapped in this one game.

    WoW, they played two!

    Oh well, a win is a win is a win... ;) :D

On a sad note, Tom Cheek, the radio voice of the Blue Jays from their inception till last year, dies,

    http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/scorecard/mlbnews.asp?articleID=141119

Tom was an excellent broadcaster and a class person who will be dearly missed by all who knew him and the millions of fans who tuned in to hear him during baseball season.

    RIP Tom....

    WoW, isn't that somethin. :D

    Good for them.

As said, the chances of that happening twice are basically nill. ;)

I've went to many games here and never even came close to catching anything! :p

A nice "feel good" story. :)

:( Don't pitch over the middle of the plate to a home run hitter, Lidge.

Good suggestion Ron. Or maybe don't even pitch to the league's MVP!

Yes!!! I'm so happy for Biggio and Bagwell - two class pros for so long!
Oswalt was in command - had a 0.29 ERA for this series.....
The Cardinals are also such a first class team to a man..
Only 50 years ago, the Houston Buffalos was a farm team for the Cardinals, for whatever that's worth.
