    @zfactor

    What www was it where it happened ? Please delink it like this first -http etc

    You describe how she just clicked on a link, and bang. This implies that her browser and/or other settings etc are very loose :(

    Ohh... I have not seen a funny kind of crapware in my life. It opened a list of advertisement. You can't open that window unless you click one of those ads...:D
    Also when I executed one brontok worm it gave me old Avast like warning sound "Caution, a virus has been detected" and gave me info that it blocked that virus from copying a xyz.exe to system32 folder. After that Brontok unrooted it and destroyed my Virtual Machine...:p
    But I still think it is not rogue. A PURE CRAP.

    not sure since i didnt get to see it till after it happened and had to remove it. she works online for google and goes to some shady sites. she had norton nis2010 installed and it missed it. but her browser has to be set specific to how they want it so i could not change the settings.

    Check _ALL_ files from the .zip-file against Virustotal and indeed some of them were detected as malware by a few scanners.

    I had downloaded the main installers of this crap. They are undetected in VT still.

    I respectfully disagree. Forcing you to click on ads which bring you to a random site w/ very likely a drive-by malware download most certainly IS rogue.

    It there any way to report what kind of rogue crap are they offering for download?

    EDIT: Reported on Softpedia, I can't find a way to do it on CNet. As this post shows, there are links to fishy or straight malware sites directly on "vendors" website.

    Thank you for bringing this to notice. But why can't you post a comment in Cnet I didn't understand. I will post about this soon on WOT, Softpedia and CNet.

    See, requires registration. Also, there already are warnings in comments. What I need is to report it to the CNet staff, not comment. Since obviously they don't read comments, otherwise it'd be pulled off the site long time ago.

    Apparently someone went thru the hassle and tried this incredible piece of junk. Even made screenshots. See the links above. Anyway, here's the hero that wrote this masterpiece for you to enjoy. You can have a poster made with him and hang it above your bed. :D

    Well yeah, so now he's having his 15 minutes of fame. Just not really sure that he'll appreciate it though. :D

    (I actually give him a benefit of doubt and blame his complete naivity for the distribution of malware via links on his website and advertising banners in his programming masterpiece. Anyway, similar utter junk seriously has no place on Softpedia, CNet, ZDNet or whatever similar, there are sadly tons of people who are inexperienced enough to think they'd actually be protected. People still kinda trust these sites, you know o_O)
