See this pdf, it has links to common Symantec Support topics on install/upgrade/migrate/uninstall:
    ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/engli..._protection/11.0/manuals/SEP11_Top_Issues.pdf

WRT, your query on updates. The uninstaller will by default wipe out all files including updates leaving only shared common files behind. So if you want to update again after reinstall. Just download the update installers (from my earlier post and that of JanSolo) and run them after SEP installation.

I've found that if you want to do a very good uninstall of SEP, the CLEANWIPE utility from Symantec is needed.

I've used Clean Wipe's, which can not be legally posted, latest version and can find zero difference in me manually cleaning out the unit. Any decent, even ADD/REMOVE, uninstaller will do as well.
