    Hi,

I have two "SVCHOSTS.EXE SYSTEM" running, highlighting either, then selecting, services, shows both have the same "EXACT" contents. Next as both were identical in content, I killed one & the machine was much quicker.
32 bit Vista. Then later the second svchost.exe system will return.

Svchost handles all kinds of functions, including DNS lookups, and more. Just leave them alone, don't kill any of them or you may encounter problems. If you think one of them is malware in some form or other, then scan and check with the appropriate programs etc...... but in general, I'd leave them alone.

    Hi Kerodo,

    Thanks for the response!

So it's common for two instances of "svchost.exe system" to show up, upon ctrl+alt+del. And should be of no concern. Correct!

I guess my question then becomes why two instances, both showing the same information, & the system did not react adversely, to shutting down one instance.
