I was able to upgrade to 5.0.1086 on a XP pro setup. This is a new install with no previous SuperAntiSpyware installed. I just installed it a few minutes ago.

OK...working...I had rules in place to update defs and thought, in the beginning, that was enough. Wrong...a few minutes ago, on a hunch, I added an other firewall rule to SAS and that was all that was needed....UGH! Sorry to have taken people's time.

Nope, you should beck the link targets and report the false positives if nothing's wrong.

Similar things have happened to me before.

No, but if you did they are false positives and should be reported as such, if still in doubt scan them with malwarebytes Anti-malware.

No but that's probably because I don't use it anymore. I got tired of SAS Fp's.

    Re: SUPERAntiSpyware 5.0

Just got back from the old folks's ;-)

Checked the logs of SAS - no logs. I just can not figure out how to set this up.

I won't say that when I did a scan loads of things got through and SAS missed them. I think my little trick of the hosts file change via MVPS and HostsExpert worked. That and NortonDNS (really not a Norton fan otherwise). And AdBlocker and Ghostery have made a difference too I think

I had a bit of feedback about the comments section (powered by disqus) not working on the Independent newspaper. If you disable the web-bug blocking in Ghostery it works again.

Apart from that, no nasties, Avira did it's job well updating and scanning. Excellent stuff.

Hitman Pro found nothing, neither did TDSS killer.

I hope this isn't too much info for an SAS thread, I am a bit dissapointed about the lack of logs and the fact that I don't think it has been scanning automatically as set up, but it did catch some quite nasty trojans that even MBAM missed last time, when I did a manual scan. Two in fact.

Yeah, dissapointed, but will persevere as usual.

Sorry for the poor grammar - hope it wasn't too hard to read.

Yes, I saw SAS v5.x found that same supposed malware on one of our Windows XP SP3 systems. SAS flagged as detections several of the Internet games with spades, backgammon, etc.. Those games could be part of an old Yahoo messenger online games package but I'm not sure. We had an employee that went against our directives by installing Yahoo instant messenger on one of our business systems. That person used to like to use Yahoo messenger and play those games years ago on the machine that it was detected on. SAS didn't find it on my main system with XP SP3 but I never installed Yahoo messenger on it. It could be a false positive and I am leaning in that direction because neither MBAM or ZAES detected it but you never know. Maybe there is a chance it is a legit detection.
