If you want to test ClearCloud DNS to see if it is working:

    -test.ssdsandbox.net- ClearCloud block page

-clearcloudtest.ssdsandbox.net- Test page - You should see the ClearCloud logo on this page.

Well you can very simply disable ClearCloud from the sytem tray icon, go to the site and enable it again. It's very quick and not really any hassle :) .

Sadly, I'm not that clever, firzen771, so ClearCloud is perfect for people like me :D .

Some must implement ClearCloud manually, by entering the two DNS addresses.

I'm one of those, since I use a router. No setup routines, no ClearCloud icon.

Since I started using ClearCloud DNS about a week ago, I noticed one strange thing. "Sometimes" when I go to Hulu*com I get the message that I am not allowed to watch the videos since I am not in the USA. I am in the USA. I "assume" that Hulu*com can see where the DNS request came from and that some of my DNS requests are sent to one of ClearCloud's DNS Servers in another country.

    ClearCloud's DNS Server Locations:

The service definitely works well, but, as said, it needs an option to go to a blocked site soon. I submitted an FP last evening and had a reply this morning, so they are very quick to respond.

Yeap, I've submitted a couple of FP's aswell. Both were resolved within a couple of hours. They even sent me an e-mail to check wether everything was ok or not. That's outstanding customer service considering this is a free product. :thumb:

Sorry, just run a Sandbox and be done with it....

There is simply no need for this type of service...

If you run a Sandbox you are as safe as this and in control of your own destiny and much simpler and less problems...

Except it offsets resources to the cloud and router rather than PC side which makes it more convenient than a Sandbox.

Oh well! If that's the case, I think the guys @ Sunbelt, Norton, Comodo, Open DNS, DynDNS, etc... don't have too much things to spend their time on... other than developing useless services...
1)Setting up a DNS service couldn't be easier
2)Less problems than what? Excuse me but I just can't see the point of comparison between a sandbox and a DNS service... o_O

I use Sandboxie, DW3, and ClearCloud DNS. The big selling point for ClearCloud DNS, however, is that the protection is at no cost. It is free and my browsing is just as fast. You can't go wrong!

This has been a request for a while over at the ClearCloud forums. If I remember correctly they said they are working on the technical side of it because its a much harder then it sounds.

From what i remember, other DNS providers, let you keep personal list of whitelisted addresses that override (take priority over) currently blocked ones. That unfortunately means need of personal account. OpenDNS let's you keep 25 of such addresses in their free plan. Is that what you mean ? Other then that, simple Disregard this warning and continue would not be so simple AFAIK ;)

well internal browser blacklists like firefox's let u bypass the warning (i assume DNS sevices follow a similar blacklist application of sites) and im PRETTY sure Comodo DNS allows u to bypass the warning (altho i dont remember for sure)

This is something we are looking into and while I haven't been a part of the recent discussions regarding how this can be implemented, I am familiar with this issue.

The DNS server translates a website to an IP address. For example it would translate www.sunbeltsoftware.com to 64.128.133.140. For any blocked websites we simply change this so that instead of the correct IP address of the blocked website, we reply with the IP address of our blocked by clearcloud page.

To at that point allow you to go to the page anyway, it is somewhat tricky since we need to then reply with the correct IP address for just that single user. We also need to continue to reply with that correct IP address for every request and every bit of content that loads on the website for just that user.

As has already been mentioned, some services allow you to use personal accounts. This is one of the several approaches which we have considered. As I said, I haven't been a part of the recent discussions regarding this so I'm not sure what approaches we are currently considering but we are definitely looking into implementing something to allow you to continue to a blocked website.

well its good to hear that it is actively being worked on, but any chance ud have a relative time frame for its implementation? like if its still a year down the road (kinda like Vipre's inclusion into AV-C which they also said theyre working on but never seemed to appear) i might as well not waste my time checking back for it at least, no offence or anything, id just like to know if possible

I'm not currently working with the ClearCloud team but I'll see if I can find out any specific information on this for you.
