    • Some of the images on the buttons disappear when SUMo is busy.
    • What do the zeroes before an orange retry symbol and a red exclamation mark mean? 0 minor & 0 major updates? If so, I find the text in SUMo 4 more clear than the images in 5.
    • The image for ignore looks like a shield, which I find confusing.
    • I like the new square checkmarks
    • I prefer the number of up-to-date, minor, and major products to be in 1 vertical column as in version 4 (now split into 2 columns in version 5).
    Hope this helps.

    Thank you !
1200 is the number of "short term active" users, not the grand total.
Grand total is more about 40.000 (which is not that much....)
12 highly motivated users is enougth : quality first !

This beta is more or less a release candidate : all features for 5.0.0 are in. I already have some items for future 5.0.1 and other 5.0.x.
What i want to check prior to release are general UI feedback like XIII did in order to do some tweaking, if possible.
Full detailed change Log is available here : http://www.kcsoftwares.com/bugs/changelog_page.php?project_id=11

    - Greyed images while busy : This was already the case in SUMo 4 :)
    - zero's : Yes, you have the right interpretation. Are the image confusing for you ? Or only the layout ? or both ?
    - "Ignore" image : will be reworked as i plan to merge Delete & Ignore function (most likely with the "Delete" image only or a better 3rd one) as per http://www.kcsoftwares.com/bugs/view.php?id=3986
    - checkmarks : Thanks :)
    - See 2nd comment.

    Thanks !!!

    Ah, I didn't know that.
40.000 worldwide may be not be that much, but for a 'niche' product like SUMo, I think it's not bad at all!

You're certainly right. By 40K i mean "real users" with regular requests, not "use once and unsinstall" users.
This gives you an indication of the credibility of SUMo competitors when advertising their number of users :)

Thanks, Kyle. I may consider trying SUMo 5 beta later, perhaps.
Great that XIII already tried and commented. :thumb:

I am a happy Pro user - SUMo is a 'must have' for me, I use it every day, sometimes more than once a day! It is especially useful for updates of my portable applications, whose folder I have included, which, unlike most installed programs, don't alert you to new versions.

Further to XIII comments, I would also prefer layout change for icons top right, but four horizontal, not vertical.
And yes, agree merge Ignore / Skip / Delete, with maybe improved icon.

But these are small things. Nice job Kyle, UI did need a bit of improvement.

Maybe it's more noticeable now that the images are larger ;)

    Layout and images actually.

OK, i'll try to make this better, either directly in the first 5.0.0 release or in quickly released 5.0.x updates.

BTW; if you need another power user I might be able to help now and then (by marking things as beta myself instead of reporting them here), if you want me to.

I made a mockup with 4 horizontal pictograms + figures : does not fit (or is truely too congested).
The only way to make it fit is to remove the text "Use this tool...". What would you think about this ?

I could do without that text (completely ignore it after having read it once; seems more like first-time onboarding to me)

That text can go, but maybe then people won't know about the Drag'n'Drop feature, which I have never used.
So it's fine if you leave it as it is also.

Confession: I did not know about drag & drop, even though that text has been there for quite a while...

    Dear all !

I've taken your feedback into account and made something even lighter !
Download link is still : http://www.kcsoftwares.com/beta/sumo.exe

Again, all feedback welcome (in particular compared to previous beta !)

Minor remark: I would vertically center the numbers instead of aligning them to the top.

I'm no designer, but I would like to try/see a more flat "modern" (Windows 10) look (which will be much more work?).

MalwareBytes AntiMalware might be a good example:
    • plenty of white space
    • a few basic colors (white, gray, black, blue)
    • small colored dots (you might use green, orange red for up-to-date/minor/major) with more contrast
I also like the way Emsisoft has moved their security to a modern look.

    It's getting better.
    * The Icons are now better placed (left instead of right)
    * The "white area" is gone
