Weird as Alt Server naver anwsers and Main server answers randomnly...

Does manual (web browser) access to
    www.kc-softwares.com and
    www.kcsoftwares.com
work fine on your system ? Any AV or Firewall or specific host file potentially blocking SUMo ?

Systematic check for these "popular" products.

Manual (web browser) access to those addresses works fine on my system.

    Nothing is blocking SUMo.

The odd thing is that some moments SUMo works fine, while other moments it times out or it is extremely slow.

Please note that at this moment SUMo works perfectly,
while earlier today it was extremely slow and timed out most of the times that I tried.

I don't know how many SUMo users are still actively watching this thread.
If other SUMo users experience the same SUMo server issue that I mentioned yesterday, I hope they will report.

Over the past days, the past week, SUMo behavior was variable. The performance hadn't been well for over some days. Yesterday, earlier in the day, SUMo was extremely slow and timed out most of the times that I tried, SUMo checks resulting in "Server Error. Please retry later."

But since last night, SUMo has been working perfectly.

If performance drops, I will report again.
As I said, I hope other users will too.

    Best regards

I tested it right after you reported the problem @Stupendous Man, but I got no errors.

    Here's something new -

G Data AntiVirus now reports sumo_lite.exe as malware and consequently also blocks the download from your site.
I reported this behavior as False Positive, both for the file and for the URL.
I submitted the file and the URL to G Data for analysis and correction.

This is what I added as comment to G Data:
I guess G Data will correct this issue soon enough,
but perhaps it can be helpful if the SUMo developer would also contact G Data regarding this issue.

    Thanks very much
    and best regards

Regarding the G Data false positive that I reported earlier this week, I see that issue has been resolved, although I haven't received any notice from G Data.
Anyway, good to see that G Data resolved that issue.

The SUMo server error issue that I reported a week ago and that was gone some hours later, that issue is back.
SUMo checking is extremely slow and times out most of the times that I try, SUMo checks resulting in "Server Error. Please retry later."
Same day of the week, and about the same time of the day as a week ago.
    Odd, isn't it?
    Please check your server logs.

It's been running fine on my pc's all day - could it be your ISP?

    That's good.
Odd that my results are so different to yours.

In the SUMo logs I see a lot of lines saying "Checking : Waiting 1s to recover (due to server error 8 )",
    just like a week ago.

How would my ISP be involved?
    Could you please elaborate?

All my other connections are fine.

Based on those "server error 8" reports, I still suspect a server issue.
Doesn't "server error" mean there's a server error?

I've checked few hours back and now also and didn't have any problems. Till now I've never got server error 8 message.

Thanks again JohnBurns, and thanks hqsec.
As I said before, odd that my results are so different from yours.

Could there be regional differences, depending on the location?
Does Kyle_Katarn know of such possibility?

And perhaps Kyle_Katarn can tell what the "server error 8" messages that I find in the logs would mean?
Does it tell something about the server, as I would think?
Or could those messages originate from some other non-server related error?
In that case the message "server error" would be highly confusing.

"Server Error 8" mean : no answer / no connection to server.

That's the typical problem when something is interfering with the establishment of SUMo dialogue with server : MBAM, Firewall,....

    Thanks, JohnBurns.
But to see if my ISP could be involved somehow, I would need to know what to look for.
    Nevertheless - thanks very much.

But that would be regarding the adware in the Regular or the NoRK installer, I guess,
and not the installed SUMo Lite program?
I never had any MBAM or HitmanPro detections for SUMo Lite.

But of course. And thank you very much.

Has the situation improved or are you still facing delays ? What's your average response time according to SUMo log ?
    Mine is < 100 ms

I use MBAM as freeware, only for scanning, not for real-time protection, so that can't be the cause of the issue.
My G Data firewall allows the SUMo connections, so that can't be the cause of the issue either, i would think.
Disabling G Data 2015's new Exploit Protection didn't change anything, so I guess that's not the cause of the issue either.
Finally, EMET doesn't block SUMo either.

The fact that the SUMo server issue only occurs every now and then seems to indicate that the cause is not system related. If the issue was caused by firewall or anti-virus or whatever, one would expect it to be there all the time.

By the way - part of today I still had the SUMo server errors, but at this moment SUMo works perfectly again. Faster than ever, it seems.

    Regarding the response time -
the "Server replied" times are < 100 ms,
the "Main Server Online" and "Alt Server Online" times are about 100 ms (some slightly less, some slightly more), with a very few exceptions of much longer response time.
The overall average must be < 100 ms, or perhaps about 100 ms.
But I guess yesterday and earlier today response times may have been much longer.

FYI, after a "general" check (use of the check button) SUMo logs average answer time : good indication of QoS of the end to end network.
