    Sunbelt, LooknStop...
If many doubt about the effectiveness of Modern Firewalls (+HIPS),
imagine what will happen if we go back to the Classic/Pure Firewalls Era...

Windows Firewall, LooknStop, Sunbelt, Rising, PCTools(?)..
And if you count all the suites that lack a HIPS, well, prepare to lose count.

I highly doubt that HIPS will become any more mainstream than it currently is.
If you can even call it mainstream right now.
There are two large groups that will probably never use a HIPS, those that don't have the technical know-how and those that simply can't be bothered by a seemingly endless barrage of popups querying the user every time the PC so much as breathes at a quickened pace.
I'm confident that either of these two groups is sufficient enough to place the HIPS crowd in the minority, let alone both together, and I can only hope that no one is under the illusion that this will change anytime soon.

    Anyway, again, individual apps.
No weak components unless by choice, no bloat (with the promise of more to come with each passing year), no money changing hands.
Not to mention I just feel like a security noob when I use a suite.

With or without HIPS, software FWs are Not part of my Security-Setup.
I have properly configured my Router, and I don't use a software FW.
I don't use any Resident AntiMalware Scanner, too.
Just some On-Demands AntiMalware Scanners to check here and there...
Therefore, I've never liked Internet Security Suites.
