    Dear all,

After SUMo (Wilder's post), KCleaner (Wilder's post) and Zer0, i'm coming with a brand new free security-related software called Startup Sentinel (SuS)

Startup Sentinel (a.k.a. SuS) makes your PC startup faster and more secure by giving you full control on loaded software. Every single program added to your startup sequence is detected on the fly and can be approved, rejection or blacklisted (for further automatic rejection by SuS)

This is early beta stage - more proof of concept than a full features product (best is still to come)

Please feel free to come and give it a try, making your suggestions and recommandations for this new free security related software.

    This software is YOURS :)

  3. Very simple request, make it the way autoruns should have been (with real time protection).

    a) Option to auto allow / hide Windows OS related binaries
    b) Option to auto allow all Microsoft binaries
    c) Option to auto allow all signed files
    d) Option to auto allow all installed files

    e) when allowing a binary after prompt from SuS, allow all other binaries from this vendor/publisher also (so security aware folks can build up their own list of trusted vendirs/publishers)

Thank you for being the very first to test Startup Sentinel.

How do I get something off the Blacklist? I clicked "Add to BlackList" and the item disappeared, but what if I need to restore it?

Is there a list of what this guards against? Is it as inclusive as MJ Registry Watcher?

I like the GUI and it seems to be very light on resources.

Startup Sentinel added to my "Products" menu on home page... nice catch :)

Good news that Neowin posted about SuS. I have plenty of ideas to get it more user-friendly and powerful. More to come, interlaced with SUMo & KCleaner updates :)

As usual, i've tried to have the smallest memory+CPU footprint with a simple but user friendly GUI. I'll make some improvement but want to keep things simple.

There's currently no "Blacklist editor" but this will come very soon.
You can do it manually very easily. Open the following fiel with notepad and delete the appropriate line :
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\KC Softwares\Startup Sentinel\black.lst

The black/white lists editor is a nice addition. I would suggest having an option to restore a blacklisted item - just in case something was added inadvertently.

Is there a way to see all of the items Startup Sentinel checks?

Retore blacklisted item is already possible : use "Remove" in blacklist editor.

I'm sorry. The startup item I tested with didn't reappear until I rebooted. Is there a way to refresh Startup Sentinel without rebooting? Restarting the application doesn't work for me.

Go here and download the zip version. There's also a NoRK installer available if you don't want to do a manual install.
