Just to muddy the waters ... is the code for this browser not "open"?

I got that impression reading this, not that it really keeps me awake on duty ;)

The conspiracy plot thickens ... did Iron surrender or was it double-tapped by a Sig Sauer ... LOL ;)

This must have been a quick update because this is the one I have on both computers.

It must be very recent as Fanboy's page is not working. Too many downloads?

Pinga, as I have explained in the past (whenever PortableApps.com creates a portable version that's already done by a developer), if you are a PortableApps Platform user, PA's own portable version integrates seamlessly with their platform. So, my FYIs are for PA Platform users.

It seems that the "built-in" ad blocker is now available for Mac and Linux versions as well.

I saw a post by "SRWare Iron" to that effect on Fanboy's forum.

Are there updates coming along this quickly now or is this latest string of updates just quick bug fixes?

Also, how is the latest update running as far as stability, bugs, etc? I'm looking for a full time alternative to Google Chrome to use as my default browser.

I think that their update cycle is fairly consistent, although I think the last immediate update was essentially a bug fix. I think some people had some problems with Iron's UA spoofer. I never use it as AFAIK Iron can open any page that Chrome can. It has improved hugely since I first downloaded the #2 series. I have noticed a couple of tab (Aw Snap!) crashes posting in a couple of forums, although it is always those two forums that it does that, & doesn't necessarily mean Chrome wouldn't.

Apart from the tab crash I mentioned earlier it works fine. You can use all of Chrome's extensions & I now have both Iron & Chrome on my desktop & notebook. To be totally honest, I think overall, Chrome is more stable.

If you have any problems making Iron your default, make sure you run the installer as 'Admin' & set Iron as default in the browser & in 'Default Programs'.
