There are a couple ~DFxxxx.tmp files in my %temp% directory (i.e., my user account's temp directory). I checked using SysInternals' 'handle' utility to see who owned them. sgmain.exe owns one of them and sgbhp.exe owns the other one. Those are SpywareGuard's files.

Why does SpywareGuard need these temporary files?

Why does SpywareGuard use temp files?

I was doing some cleanup and notice a couple of files in my %temp% path that I could not delete because they were in use, which were:

    ~DF1F94.tmp (sgmain.exe)
    ~DF2BCA.tmp (sgbhp.exe)

The processes having a handle open on the file is shown in parenthesis. These are SpywareGuard file.

I'm curious. Why does SpywareGuard need to record anything in temporary files?

Thanks for the link (and the one that it contains to a post back to Sept. 2003 about the defect).

Vanguard - Don't forget to check your other profiles, too - I just found about 50 of them in "Family", since SG runs on that profile, also - and deleted them. Pete
