I see SpywareGuard 2.2 touted as a good free real-time antimalware app that makes a great compliment to SpywareBlaster. But can anyone confirm that for me, and that it's definitely a different app than Spyware Guard 2008 & 2009? It had better be, because the latter is said to actually be a sophisticated rogue antispyware. Check these links out:

And assuming SpywareGuard 2.2 is OK, will it run with Avast Free Antivirus 5.0.418?

Are you confusing a Rogue AV, as you posted here or are you looking for Javacool's SpywareGuard ? As Cudni already stated, it is not compatible with Vista.
ESET has a stand-alone Rogue AV removal tool, here

Never mind. I've just heard SpywareGuard hasn't been updated in years. Can anyone recommend a good CURRENT free real-time antimalware program?

    Please read

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html#FAQ

Of Course, JavaCool SpywareBlaster as well as Spyware Guard 2.2 are not anti-malware software, they are used to prevent spyware installation (they have not scanning and removal ability I mean)

I do not use Avast 5.0 so I cannot tell if it is compatible, but some years ago I used Avast Home 4.x which had no incompatibility issues with JavaCool SpywareBlaster or SpywareGuard (both excellent tools IMHO)

On the other hand: Spyware Guard 2008/2009 are rogue, and, like all rogue, use deceptive tactics to trick the user, even by using similar names of trusted programs

    Hope it helps

That would be in the overview I posted in my last reply.
The free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is on-demand only real-time, you would have to purchase it to allow the component that scans in real-time.
Your AV has anti-malware, real-time, surely. Check the documentation.
