    Hi Lonny,

No such problems were ever reported. What's the second AV, by the way?

    Regards,

    Pieter

    AVG Fre version
in case you ask I do now to uncheck both of avgs with a startup manager(msconfig) while anti vir only has one
and not use the others on demand scaner.

The problems ive been seeing are
Once or twice when hitting start everything would freeze
no close program box that has happend twice.

its also happend but I could shut down everything first before ctrl alt del ,with start button and just opening a folder
most times that happend when it was right after a fresh startup,, and I usualy wait first boot of the day for five minutes.
I usualy dont run spywaregaurd except when the others in our family surf ,, I sure appreciate it.

My thoughts are pehaps have it start with windows and then me
stop its protection, I am closing it properly not ending task, is not the same as would be opening the program and unduing the protections in place, save settings,
    perhaps its not letting go
BUT everything seams fine since ive swicthed back to avg though
and its been fine now for a couple days

I am spyware free, trojan and any other mailware to my knowledge,,,
cept this is windows ME(but I like it anyway)
often ive found symtoms come and go for no apperent reason on win me
    any thoughts

Does it make any difference if you let SpywareGuard start at boot or start it up afterwards?

To make sure I understand correctly: the problems you are having are only with AntiVir as resident scanner while SpywareGuard is running in the background?

    Regards,

    Pieter

Yes thats what i have noticed
If I start it manualy there seams to be no problems even if i close it, when run from startup I tend to get problems.
    even if program is off.

yes with anti vir and spywaregaurd on and off
but only when ran at startup

    Only time will tell
I guess makes little sence ?

Could be some kind of conflict after all, maybe a third party is involved. Can you try disabling the real time scanning engine in SpywareGuard and see if that makes a difference?

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Ok, keep us posted.

My computer that runs ME is very stable. ( As long as I remember to turn on the computer and the printer in the correct following order. )

This may not be enough. I don't use AVG or Antivir, but many (or even most) anti-virus applicaitons use two programs to provide real-time protection: One is a program that loads from the registry, and provides nothing more than an interface for the real-time scanning component, and the other is the actual workhorse, a service, which is much more hidden.

This means that you should always use the respective anti-virus application's own option to disable real-time scanning, rather than using MSCONFIG.EXE. Failing that, to disable the service component, use the Services applet (services.msc), assuming you are running Win2K or WinXP. Don't use MSCONFIG.EXE to manipulate services; it isn't as safe or controlled as using services.msc.

And some anti-virus applications use filter drivers on top of all the aforementioned stuff. To fully disable real-time protection, you would need to disable that as well, using Device Manager.
