In spite of being defended by SPYWAREBLASTER my Ad Aware6 FOUND today in my registry FIVE Lop.com. dataminers..I was amazed because I thought Spyblaster gives me protection..It had no less than 6 Lop coms in its system that were supposed to shield me against this dangerous parasite maker lop.com.

I had Spyblaster refreshed every day and it was updated 3 times after I downloaded it..But now I am NOT so sure..How is Spyblaster supposed to defend me against parasites?Someting like HOSTFILE lists against adds?In that case those 170 names really cant doi much..My hostfile has about 20.000 sites and still is NOT eliminating all ads but it is working quitte nice...

Well I am interested in Javacools comment to this..

Thnx Tony for your research. :)

Since SpywareBlaster can only protect you against the ActiveX elements of known lop.com installations you might want to add SpywareGuard to your protection, which AFAIK would protect you against all known lop.com variants. However, they are very active in creating new variants, so surfing on the dangerous side may still get you in trouble.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Added lots more. Thnx to Andrew Clover.

spywareblaster only disables the spyware, it does not prevent the spyware from being installed.

    Hi redwolfe_98,

    I think you're mistaking: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/spywareblaster.html
It cannot stop all spyware because not all depend on ActiveX installations but it stops those that do from installing.

    Regards,

    Pieter

Actually, SpywareBlaster's main/original purpose was to prevent the install of ActiveX-based spyware.

The fact that the same technique can also disable the spyware is just an added bonus. :)

    Best regards,
