Spywareblaster and Spybot

    As a newbie, do I need both Spywareblaster AND Spybot? Or, is one program preffered over the other?

    They are different and both can be used.

    Yes, that's exactly it - they are different and for different purposes, so they work very well together.

    SpywareBlaster is all preventative in nature. It blocks some forms of spyware from even getting on your system in the first place.

    Spybot is mostly a scanner and cleaner for spyware that has gotten on to your system. It does have some preventative settings in the Immunize screen section, but not as much as SpywareBlaster. In fact, in that Spybot screen it recommends that you use SpywareBlaster for added protection.
