Please help...I installed SpywareBlaster 3.1 on my XP machine and I can't get it to manually update. It gives me an error message partway through that says the server may be down or my firewall configuration maybe preventing it or a corrupt file. Here is what I've done:

    1. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
    2. Uninstalled and went through the registry and deleted as many references to SpywareBalster and Javacool as I could find.
    3. I have it installed on two Windows 2000 machines and it updates fine with them. They update manually without any errors. [Each W2k machine is connected to the internet via router just like the XP machine.]

If any of you have a solution to these, I would appreciate it if you could e-mail me at xxx@comcast.net. Thanks.

I have the same problem as Romeroom. I cannot connect to the server to get updates and I have posted my problem on this forum. I have already turned off the WinXP firewall as well as my Zone Alarm. This didn't help. I also checked the "alternate download method" under update options. Didn't help.

u should try downloading the updated files manually

    look here:

    (1) "I would like to perform manual updates - is there a way I can do so?"

Yes there is - simply download the following five files and overwrite the ones currently in your SpywareBlaster directory (C:\Program Files\SpywareBlaster by default):

    http://www.spywareblaster.net/spywareblaster/sbdatabase.dtb
    http://www.spywareblaster.net/spywareblaster/sbdatabase2.dtb
    http://www.spywareblaster.net/spywareblaster/sbinfo.dtb
    http://www.spywareblaster.net/spywareblaster/ckdatabase.dtb
    http://www.spywareblaster.net/spywareblaster/rsdatabase.dtb

    info gathered from here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=12266

hope this helps, good luck :D

These links to the manual update files DO NOT work. Any other suggestion?

Actually, the post before yours was a month old and it seems the files are in a different place now. See the latest information regarding the manual download links for SpywareBlaster v3 (last post by Javacool):

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=194429

I also fixed the links in the above post to avoid confusion.
