Where do I go to get the database update, I am behind a firewall and the update function doesn't work. I uninstalled the software and downloaded and installed the new version thinking it would update the database from 4/4/2003 to 5/15/2003, but it didn't. Am I doing something wrong?

Just download the following three files and overwrite the current ones in your SpywareBlaster directory:

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster/sbdatabase.dtb
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster/sbinfo.dtb
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster/ckdatabase.dtb

The above files should always be updated with the latest versions.

Can the SpywareBlaster updater tell you that there are updates, and then not download them? Or can it simply not connect at all? There are proxy configuration settings in the Settings area of SpywareBlaster, plus a special "Use Alternative Download Method" which you might want to try if SpywareBlaster can indeed find that there are newer updates.

    Best regards,

It doesn't make a connection at all. It only has port 80 open for http.

Well that does indeed sound like a firewall conflict. Manually downloading definitions should help you for now.

Is there an anonymous ftp site that I can use to download the three files?

Unfortunately there is no anonymous FTP site available for downloading those files. If that would be useful for you, I'll work on a potential solution.

Thanks very much for your help. What I did was use IE to follow the links you provided and saved the files as .txt, then went in and took the .txt extension off. Then I copied the files to the directory where Spywareblaster was installed, and I now have the new database version.

    Once again thanks.

    Rich :D :) ;)
