i installed Spyware Guard and clicked on live update.there was some connection problem due to which the download stopped & from that time i'm not able to run any of the applications on my PC.whenever i try to run any of the appliation, a dialog box appears saying-"Error Reading Spyware guard definitions.the file may be corrupt or another program may have tampered with them.
This message will appear when u try to start covered file types unless u disable protection in spyware guard control panel."

but whenever i try to run spyware guard it gives the same message ........
plsss help me on what should i do......

You shouldn't have installed Spyware Guard in the first place, and there's a good reason for that. Spyware Guard is an application, commonly known as a rogue anti-spyware program, which essentially means it is a fake spyware remover, which will try to trick you into purchasing it's "licensed version".

You should remove Spyware Guard ASAP, but it's not going to be all that easy. Luckilly, there are a few methods you can try:

    1)The manual way:

    Spyware Guard 2008 http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-spyware-guard-2008
    Spyware Guard 2009 http://www.2-viruses.com/remove-spyware-guard-2009

Both of these links can also lead you to Spyware Doctor, which is also a plausible choice, as is MalwareBytes' Antimalware.

    Good luck;]

No tadasops, the original poster was talking about the real (original) SpywareGuard from Javacool Software, (this is the Javacool Software Forum), not the rogue program. It is from this website: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html

The rogue programming is trying to trade off the good name of Javacool's programs by using the name. More information about the rogue is available in this recent thread here on the forum:

    To: contrarion,

There was never a full solution to the error you were seeing. Sometimes a reinstallation worked, sometimes not. You could also try the manual update procedure outlined in this post. However, since Javacool Software's SpywareGuard has not been updated in a while, it's may be best to just remove it. These removal instructions may help if you have trouble with that:
