    hi all
i am having a problem with Spyware Blaster o_O

yesterday i checked for updates and it said that there was a program update,so i went to the site and followed the instructions about downloading and installation
you are supposed to disable all the program and then delete before installing.
i went to delete and the program does not appear in Add/Remove programs in the control panel

so i checked the HD and there was the program that would open and run

i checked with another add/remove program that i have and it is not there either
but i can open the program and run it

what do i do now? should i just download and install over the existing program?

any advice you give is appreciated

    Welcome to the forums.

I would look in the program files, Spywareblaster folder. You can run spywareblaster.exe from there. Run it and disable all protection. Then run the unins000.exe to uninstall your current version.
Then try installing the new version 3.4 and see if it shows up in the add/remove programs.
What is you other add/remove program?

the only file that looks anything like what you are saying is a
    DAT file named unins000
it appears to be a 4KB DAT file o_O

the other add remove program is called add-remove pro...which i rarely use...i only use add/remove in the control panel

    thanks for any input

i had already read that thread before i posted

if i click on the unins000 file a caution message appears
saying that these files are being used by the operating system and various programs.editing or modifing coul damage your system
then it say open program with

wehen you click on that it give you the option of what program to use to run the file...so i tried to use SB program and all that happens is the SB program opens up
there is also a choice to click on a let a web tell you which program to use and it brings me to a Windows site saying to use a corel program (which i don;t have)

should i just download over the old program?

Don't know if this is on topic or not, but I just read in another forum that the MS Antispy program recently had a false positive that identified the unins.000 file in the Spyware Blaster folder as "spyware". If an unwary user were to delete that file using MS Antispy, he/she would be unable to uninstall Spywareblaster.
