Yes I did infact download the newest one. :0)
I guess I will just hang on and wait for the update :0)
Thank you for replying. Ime very new to all of this...
Just recivering from a horrible crash because of spyware, worms and all that crap, Ive read alot of places, and alot of people recommended Firefox as and alterate to IE..
and Ive gotten extra protection, Im running spybot, spyware blaster, ad-aware, cwshreddar, and Pest patrol, along with Nortons System works,ie anti-virus.
    think thats enougho_O lol
Im lookin to find a better Anti Virus and get rid of Nortons alltogther, as Im thinking I have some conflicts going on, I cannot get the internet cache clean up to work, and some other things in Nortons. think they are clashing with pest patrol.. but thats ok, Nortons didnt protect me last time.. Im making sure I have extra protection... :0)
anyways, now that Ive written a book, Thank you for lettin me know , I'll be watching for the update! :0)

    u should use Nod32 :D

In my opinion its the best virus scanner around :D get the 30day trial & test it its so good u wont even know its running :p uses ALOT less resouces then norton

also...watch out for "False Positives" when using pestpatrol, ALWAYS double check things b4 deleting them, & always keep your things up2 date b4 scanning :D

    good luck :D

    Hi, Lin!

I think the following procedure will give Firefox 0.9 the same protection as SpywareBlaster 3.1 with 6/7/04 database does to Firefox 0.8.

    (1) Exit Firefox.

    (2) Open with Notepad the hostperm.1 file in your Firefox profile directory.
By default the profie directory is:
    Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.pru

    (3) Delete everything from hostperm.1. Copy and paste the following lines onto hostperm.1 and save the file. Restart Firefox and go to Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies. Click on "Exceptions" and make sure Firefox is set to block cookies from some web sites.

Please copy and paste the following. Hope it will help you some.

In addition to the previous post:

It won't work until you replace the spaces between the columns with tabs.

I have used almost every AV there is and I finally stayed with command av by authintum. It is a very good av. very light on your system and the purchase price is very low. ;)

I know is no help for you but thought I would let you know that I installed FF .9 and SpyBlaster 3.1 detects FF just fine. Maybe if you un-install FF and re-install it that may do the trick....

Thanks for this important information. When the post is submitted, the tabs seem to be replaced with the spaces in this forum. I'm sorry I didn't know that.

There is a text file attached to this post. In the file, you could copy the tab-delimited contents of the hostperm.1.

The absolute best thing would be to get rid of Norton's. Over-invasive rubbish, and in my experience responsible for more conflicts, than any other
I have been using Vet now for 4 yrs, absolutely seemlessly. It is very effective, & very user friendly. Until some knucklehead sends you a virus via mail etc, you wouldn't know it was there.
    Check it out here. http://www.vet.com.au
Sure you have to pay for it, but with the best support, and new cumulative updates, it is a very neat package.

    Cheers,
    Simon

If you rename the hostperm.1.txt file, before renaming it, you have to go to Start Menu>All Programs>Accessories>Windows Explorer, in Windows Explorer go to Tools>Folder Options, in Folder Options click on the View tab, UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types", and click on Apply.

If you want to remove from hostperm.1 all the sites you registered, you should leave in hostperm.1 the following lines:

    # Permission File
    # This is a generated file! Do not edit.

You don't have to put a # after the sentence "Do not edit."

In any case, you need to make sure your hostperm.1 file in your Firefox profile directory is NOT a text file. To do so, you need to unckeck "Hide extensions for known file types" and apply it in Folder Options.

If it was an upgrade from 0.8 it may only be updating cookperm.txt in the old profile for 0.8.

I'm running both Mozilla 1.7 & FF 0.8 and I just found out that SB is only seeing FF & not Mozilla.

I found this out by renaming cookperm.txt in both my profiles & then enabling Mozilla/Firefox protection in SB. Only my FF profile had a new cookperm.txt created.

It may be time to put this question/problem/answer/solution into a FAQ or a sticky topic.

It is this very question that brought me to this forum in the first place and I see numerous threads that speak to this issue.

FYI, firefox 0.9.1 seems to be identified by spywareblaster 3.1 in my case. Never had any prior installs of firefox but I did have Netscape 7.1 installed a while ago. Maybe this has something to do with it. Dunno.

    Looking forward to v3.2! :D
