For some odd reason when eset smart security v4.0.437.0 starts up I get a big window behind the splash screen. How can I fix this to only show the splash screen (like normal)?

    See picture.

    Thanks

that looks like the splash screen over the gui itself, some timing issues?. maybe set and reset the splash screen

Well, this was happening on a friends pc. I replicated the problem by putting a shortcut in the startup folder. I will get in touch with her and see if she has a shortcut in the startup folder.

    Thanks Cudni

This might indicate a corrupted program . It could also be a sign of infection (presence of malware) .

I would reboot in Safe Mode (or Safe Mode with Networking) , uninstall the program , check for malicious software and try to reinstall

    Hello vukodlak75,

Double check the settings in the registry for egui. The path below should be what it is set to. Notice the /hide and /waitservice switches. Also make sure the program is not in the Startup folder in the Start Menu.

    "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\egui.exe" /hide /waitservice

It was in the start up folder. The registry setting was fine. All better now, thanks.
