Sphinx Vista Firewall Control

    I've not tested the Sphinx firewall, yet. There are things I like in Comodo that I wouldn't want to give up.

    HIPS is good, and from what I've read, is not included in Sphinx. Since Sphinx is more or less a front end to the Windows firewall, I doubt it would be scanning files that have been given access to the internet to ensure they have not been modified (i.e. hijacked or replaced by malware).

    Just the fact that the firewall is a Windows firewall makes me wonder how good a job it would do at blocking Microsoft-family products from accessing the internet (this seems like something Microsoft would do...). If the Windows firewall were to make exceptions for other Windows or Microsoft products, this is an exploit waiting to happen. I think Microsoft is the last company I'd want to trust for keeping a computer secure, but maybe that's just me.

    No. In many cases these are legitimate applications looking for updates.

    It must be used with Vista FW enabled.
