I am gone all morning. After lunch I try to get on-line. The following happens:

    1. My Internet connection (broadband) is not working
    2. I reset my router and restart my computer
    3. Online Armor detects NOD32 as a potential dangerous program
    4. I instruct OA to allow the program to run as NOD is my AV
    5. At the same time, the Windows Security reminder in my system tray tells me that my AV might be out of date
    6. I open NOD32 and do an update
    7. My firewall does not recognize the NOD32 Kernel update service.
    8. I instruct my firewall to let NOD connect to the internet
    9. NOD32 thern updates

What could the problem be? I have had mny firewall, NOD32, and Online Armor working together seemlessly for months.

I run Windows XP home SP2.

Any ideas? Could NOD32 have been modified by a virus or trojan?

The Alerts you received probably indicate something indeed changed. Who knows what? You could try a few things System Restore, Restoring an image,Scanning with an online Virus scanner,Scanning with a free scanner like Super Anti Spyware, A2 or Ewido. I would try scanning the computer first. YOU could also uninstall & reinstall NOD32. If after you scan nothing turns up maybe its not a malware but is some other problem.

as woody777 suggested, it sounds like something has changed... did OA update at all?

did you have your nod32 setup as per blackspear's settings:

If not, I would suggest setting up your nod32 in this way, then rebooting into windows SAFE MODE - and running a full scan and clean with NOD32. Let us know if something turns up...
