I wanted to ensure that facebook is not used on my computer at home, so I added a bunch of entries into my hosts file. However, the hosts file keeps getting edited and changed somehow. The entries:
    Code:
    127.0.0.1 facebook.com
    127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
are consistently being removed somehow. I believe my computer is clean, as it's a pretty new w7 install with eset nod32 and generally speaking I have safe browsing.

How could my hosts file be changed?
Is facebook doing something extemely evil?

    thanks

My 6 year old daughter also uses it. She is just starting to read, and uses the computer to play moshimonsters...

I'll try the read-only. I find that the file changing to be pretty disturbing though!

I have nod32 antivirus and Comodo firewall. It's an almost new windows installation with safe browsing/email practices in general.

I put Face Book on the same footing as the old My Space both crawling with potential infections. You probably picked up an infection and the hacker is toying with you. If it keeps up I'd go to Geeks to Go or Bleeping Computer after they clean up your machine stay away from that site, that's just my opinion understand.. ;)
