    Hello,

I am building a portable application system for a USB pen drive, and need a program to secure the USB drive, in the sense that all write access from the host computer to the USB drive is blocked, but not vice/versa. Any suggestions (preferably freeware).

    Thanks in anticipation :)

Looked at Drive Sentry GoAnywhere. Seems to fit my description perfectly!

Thanks for the quick and accurate response! :)

Free for 30 days. Not sure what happens after that.

    format to NTFS

create autorun.inf in root of flash drive

make autorun.inf read only , add everyone as a user and then deny all for permissions on all users

This will make it MUCH harder for a flash drive to be infected in a way that could infect other PCs . Do note that this will NOT prevent malware from dropping onto the drive , it will only prevent the malware from auto-executing when moving it from machine to machine .

This is not a perfect answer to your question but does add a free layer of USB defense . This works just fine if you have autorun.inf set up a way you want that wont change .
