I have Look n Stop v2.05ps, Avast Home, Win Patrol Full version, Process Guard v3.1.5 Full, Spyware Blaster, Spybot without Resident Protection, Geswall, Ewido free & Windows Defender.

I am thinking of migrating to Comodo Firewall, but at the same time I want to reduce the amount of software I have installed, either because of duplication, or heavy resource useage or because there is a better product. (Preferably freeware)

Could the forum review my software and make suggestions for change and or reduction (low resource useage preferred)

    Thanks very much

    Terry

    Hi Terry!
I would suggest the following freeware:

    -Comodo personal firewall
    -Opera
    -Avast! Home
    -Spyware Terminator
    -Spywareblaster
    -Snoopfree
    -Ewido (on demand)
    -AppDefend
    -RegDefend

    Regards, C.

USA still the best. But barely.
Iwould say get rid of WinPatrol. PG Full has got you covered.

I would replace Windows Defender with SUPERantispyware free. That's about it.

Provided you know how to use PG. Geswall is just redundant IMO. It's got great features, don't get me wrong. But if you know how to use PG, then you shouldn't be getting infected in the first place.

    I would dump SpyBot,Windows Defender,and WinPatrol.
    Then install Spyware Terminator.

    depending on your surfing habits

...Look n Stop v2.05ps, Avast Home, Win Patrol Full version, Process Guard v3.1.5 Full, Spyware Blaster, Spybot without Resident Protection (although on demand does not hurt), Geswall, Ewido free (again on demand does not hurt - You can disable or set to manual the ewidoctrl process) & Windows Defender.

If you INSIST on an real time AS then Spyware Terminator (leave HIPS disabled)

i would have it like this

I have Look n Stop v2.05ps, Avast Home, Win Patrol Full version, Process Guard v3.1.5 Full, Spyware Blaster, Spybot without Resident Protection, Geswall, Ewido free & Windows Defender.

also ewido can be substituted with superantispyware. depending on whether ur more worried of trojans or spyware.

u can have both too but i like slim config.

Man that's a lot for one PC!

I will never tell others what to use, but I will tell you what I use:

Outpost Personal Firewall Pro, GeSWall, Ewido Plus

    That's it :D

Yeah thats a lot of software to use, of course if you surf dangrously you might just need all of it lol. I'm happy using Outpost pro, nod32 and spysweeper, all paid for. I do also use adaware free and ewido free for scans from time to time.

I agree w/ WSFuser re: slim configuration.

Keep in mind: the more you run, the more you get bogged down. Not to mention overlaps and possible app conflicts.

After about 6mos of trialing SW, I've found my perfect combo. Runs fast, runs silent, runs deep.
