Resolved: Socket Spy minimizes to taskbar

    Okay here's the scenario:

    Win2K SP4 almost no processes running -
netbios ports open for local network
    and time synch program (TardisNT)
    iexplore .
    PE RU license v 1.800

One day I was using PE and I:

    1) Right click an entry in PE,
    2) Select Socket, Enable Spying
    3) Right click same entry and select Socket, View Spy Info
    4) Life is good - Socket spy comes up and I can see packets etc.

    BUT

    1) Right click same entry in PE
    2) Select Process, Enable Spying
    3) Right Click Process, View Spy Info
    4) Socket explorer minimzes to taskbar
never to see the light of my desktop again

    AND

It minimizes to taskbar every time it's run from every location
    (Pull-down menu, right click a process/socket)

Right click SS on the taskbar does not give
the option to restore or maximize.

Right Click SS on the taskbar select Move or Resize
and the cursor goes off the screen.

Left click it and it just looks at me on the taskbar.

If I kill the Socket Spy process in Task Manager, PE bombs.

This looks very similar to a problem with MS PhotoEditor where it's startup
location was stored in the registry (it's own entry not some global setting) in
such a way that it never appeared on the screen. You had to go into the
registry and remove it's startup location entry (not sure the KB article).

    Any ideas?

(I'm going to remove and reinstall - but this is the
second computer I have experienced the same situation)

    tyvm

Andreas1 - yes it was the registry. I even searched Wilders but obviously not that
skillfully. I never could get the hang of phpBB search (and I pretty much live on
another phpBB forum!!!) Plus like an idiot never included regedit as a criteria.

    Dooooh!

    tyvvm!!

Glad you got it working now.

This forum is vBulletin, not phpBB.

If you want even more searchpower:
i installed the googlebar, if i can't find things with this forum search engine i type it in the googlebar on top and add "wilders" with that; google has a real strong engine with lots of options, might help you too.

The vBulletin search engine wants you to use whole words or wildcards, and there are several more things to knowwhich i forgot, using google most of time.
