I have been trying to install Acronis TrueImage in order to test it before we get our new server in, which will have this installed, without success. The same errors arise regardless of what is done. These are the attempts that I have made after installing and building kernel source on FC4 on an i686, kernel 2.6.15-1.1831:

./trueimage-setup Fails at snapapi module installation

attempted to manually build snapapi with following commands:

    dkms build -m snapapi26 -v 0.6.7 --config /boot/config-2.6.15-1.1831_FC4 --arch i686 --kernelsourcedir /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15/
    result: Fails

    dkms build -m snapapi26 -v 0.6.7 --config /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15/configs/kernel-2.6.15-i686.config --arch i686 --kernelsourcedir /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15/
    result: Fails

    dkms build -m snapapi26 -v 0.6.7 --config /boot/config-2.6.15-1.1831_FC4 --no-clean-kernel --arch i686 -kernelsourcedir /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15
    result:Fails

All failures reference /var/lib/dkms/snapapi26/0.6.7/build/ at which time I open make.log. Always the same messsages:

    WARNING: Symbol version dump /usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15/Module.symvers
is missing; modules will have no dependencies and modversions.

    make: Leaving directory `/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/kernel-2.6.15/linux-2.6.15'

These are the same errors I get regardless of what method I use. I have tried completely uninstalling Acronis, and removing the snapapi directory under /var/lib/dkms, and reinstalling the kernel source multiple times. Always resulting in the same errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated if anyone has an idea of how to fix this problem.

    Hello jawst81,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Linux Server Disk Backup Software.

Please note that this problem is known already and will be fixed in the next build of Acronis True Image 8.0 Server for Linux which will be available in the Product Updates section of our web site in the nearest future.

Could you please submit a request for technical support with the subject indicating that you want to contact Marian Fadeeva and provide the information confirming your purchase of Acronis software (order number, e-mail, where did you purchase our product, etc.) along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread? We will try to provide you with the temporary solution.

    Thank you.
