My computer takes several minutes to boot up now.
The problem may have started when J.River
media jukebox was installed. Unfortunately, I did
    not do a system restore.
Could some of the entries in the follwoing
hijackthis log be the culprit? Advice appreciated.

    Hi slowpoke,

I see no real reason for a slow boot in your log.
Can you tell us which part of the booting process takes longer then before? That would give us some clues on where to look.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hello Pieter,

    Re your question:
At startup, applications like spampal, edexter winpatrol, load fast and then the slowdown
occurs: the yellow (orange?) disk access light
stays on for nearly a minute. At first, I thought
it might be a Norton problem but re-installing
    liveupdate did not change anything.
Which entries could I safely delete from my
    hijackthis log to re-check? Thanks.

    Hi slowpoke,

My first guess would be two AV's starting up.

I think AVG is the easiest one to disable from starting up automatically.
In stead of using HijackThis it is better to use the programs own options or use a tool like Startup Control panel

Another site that may help you speed things up: http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Oh, and have HijackThis fix this one:
    O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/02e3ee4395962b23cb19/netzip/RdxIE601.cab

And you should install all the latest windows updates. I noticed you don't even have SP1 for IE6.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Pieter,

    Many thanks for your suggestions.
I'll have hijack this fix the entry you
pointed to and disable the av
programs one by one to see if it
    helps.

    Thank you again!
