    Hi

Every now and then I install Netframework (1.1 or 2.0) because some applications need it. Every time I have the same problem: When rebooting my computer Netframework adds 20 seconds to shutdown time. When I uninstall Netframework the shutdown speed goes back to normal, usually about 10 seconds.

This is a bit annoying since I reboot quite often due to different computer configurations and beta testing (FirstdefenceISR).
I guess it is something in my (and some others) system since I dont see much complaints or. Any ideas?

I notice similar side effects, and I try to avoid applications that depend on .net framework.

But it looks like a battle we can't win, since more quality software gets based on it.

I have similar problems, I downloaded an optimization kit called winxp manager, http://www.yamicsoft.com/
in it you can alter the shutdown speeds, its very useful and now my pc shuts down when I tell it to.

Hi, folks: To shorten shutdown time ? you can do w/ some softwares such as the one mentioned by previous posting OR DIY manually. If your O/S is window XP home sp2 and are interesting to do it yourself, please post back here, I will be pleased to give you few hints. Good luck.:)

This is hilarious. I decided I'd give this utility a try, so I downloaded it into a virtual machine. First thing the program wanted was.... you guessed. The .net framwork. Too funny.

Yep it does need net framework, in the shutdown options you can speed the shutdown times to barely anything.

Hi, folks: Yes, winxp manager can help you to reduce pc shutdown time, but only to certain extent. By changing key value in the following four areas manually, you can reduce shutdown time even further. They are wait to kill service timeout, wait to kill app timeout, hung app timeout and auto end tasks.:)
