    NOD32 v 5.2.9.1 Win XP SP3

The virus signature database is not updated while a screensaver is active. This is regardless of the update frequency set in the Scheduler. For example, if updates are scheduled every 2 hours, no update is attempted if the computer is left running overnight. If more time has elapsed than the frequency set in the scheduler, then database update is attempted as soon as the screensaver is deactivated by mouse or keyboard activity.

Is this behaviour by design? I cannot find anywhere in the setup where this can be changed. Have I missed something?

This is not a huge problem but it seems a bit strange.

    Hello,

the computer is running all the time?
Don't you have some sleep after x minutes setting enabled?

Do you have gamer mode enabled?

By default, Home version switches to Gamer mode automatically if an application running in full-screen mode is detected. For future versions, we're planning to exclude screen savers from triggering Gamer mode.

Thank you Marcos and PR. Thank you for the explanation, Marcos. Now I understand why this is happening.

Yes because screen savers are run in full screen mode.

That makes sense. Come to think of it, I recall another application I had (which I can't name off hand) that would stop running when the screen saver started up. I had to turn off the screen saver to allow that app to work without interruption.
