As program updates occur, when is it necessary or advisable to update the boot discs?

I always keep a copy of the installation file and boot rescue CD of the build number that I know works well with my setup.

Updates will usually have more/better hardware support plus a number of GUI improvements and bug fixes. I therefore create a current image, download and install the latest build and create a new bootable rescue CD. After thorough testing I decide whether to stick with the new build or revert to the previous one.

    Regards

So you're saying that the boot discs use an "updated" version of the program, not a default "safe" version like Drive Image used to do.

    Hello rdgrimes,

Indeed I am. Apart from anything else, an updated boot rescue CD (which is Linux based) will contain more and better Linux device drivers. Therefore there is a fair chance that it will fix some problems being experienced by certain users.

    Regards
