    Hi Nat

I thought I'd share with you some of my special friends.

    Pete

The first is Bella(Annabella). She is the sweetest Bernese Mountain Dog. She is trainded so if you kneel down with her, she will sit up and put her paws around you and give you a hug.

The rest of the pictures are of Rico a Standard Poodle. He is a licensed Therapy Dog. He did service at the Fema Childcare center right after the 911 mess in New York. This first picture was posed, by him. All we did was take the picture.

(Drove on a 4 lane last night and past a "Pet Smart"-Store with a huuuuuuuge banner saying:
    "Puppy Sale"
    :'( :'( :'(

The only way we can eventually break the cycle of misery,
is to NOT buy pups or other pets from stores. (And Not in "questionable" places...)

We all know that shelters are overflowing with adult animals AND puppies waiting for a HOME. Let's give it to them. :)

Something else we need to keep in mind....

And, Holy Moly! Alot of these "Free To Good Home Pets" are more than frequently used as "bait" to train fighting dogs to love to kill. :ouch:

While I've seen a few terrible of examples of terrible animal treatment, I've also seen some wonderfully heart warming examples of the highest level of care. I know several people who spent in excess of $6000USD on surgery to help there pets with leg problems. Thats a bunch of money in any language and it quite a measure of love.

Have to tell you a story about the poodle Rico. Just a couple of weeks ago he was in a local park and a toddler was there with his dad. The little fellow tried throwing a toy, but wasn't that coordinated. He would walk around with it and Rico followed nose about an inch from the toy, but he won't take toys from a child. The boy finally dropped it and Rico ran back to the father and layed down. The child came over and took it from Rico, and the show repeated. When Rico picked up the toy the 2nd time and went back to the father, the boy came again and tried to take it a 2nd time. This time rico played keep away by turning his head from side to side. With this the little boy started to cry. Rico looked at him and carefully placed the toy at his feet and let him have it. There were several adults with a tear in their eyes.
