i have disabled the splash screen (splas screen is unchecked and also disabled grafics)in nod but it loads up anyway. Computer boots up very slow and I thought the problem is the splash screen. After I boot if I open task manager it takes about a 90 seconds for the other programs to load. I would also like to no how to set nod not to scan files each time I have to reboot my computer. My computer has to sit for a good 10 minutes before it is useable.I thought I have followed all the instructions but its becoming obvious nod is great but not for novice users.

    I would suggest repairing Winsock

ALTERNATIVELY you can do the following:

    For Windows XP:

    Click on Start
    Click on Run
    Type in cmd
    Click on OK
    Type in netsh winsock reset
(Please note there are spaces between the netsh and winsock and reset)

    Press ENTER
    Restart your computer.

Then repair IMON; see post number 55 HERE

Let us know how you go...

    Cheers :D

The winsock fix helped. I have had to do this before. Would that mean the problem lies with my internet provider? I wonder if I am just too old(lol) to learn something new!

You should in general, only have to do this once, however if you have other software that likes to mess with Winsock (such as ZoneAlarm firewall), then you will need to bookmark this page...

    Cheers :D

the startup is a little better. wmiprsv loads and takes forever. then waulclt. This I guess is normal? Right now after doing all this my connection feels a lttle unstable but its raining hard so that could be it too. I am constantly finding offline webpages when I run disk cleanup but when I look in view nothing shows. Do you think I should be concerned about this? Or is this something normal.

the process is wmiprvse.exe. according to microsoft its part of the windows operating system and something to do with the management console. I left the "e" off the previous post. Nod doesnt find anything. After it loads it runs for a while then closes. The file is in system 32.I dont know if its anywere else. Should I look further? PS thanks for helping!

I don't think so. That "e" and backward "sv" made all the difference. ;) :D
