I am getting this intermittently when i click a new tab in Google Chrome which is 20 miniature windows as shown in the first screenshot. If i then type an address in that new tab, it shows up as shown in the second screenshot. I close browser down and reopen and it still does it but not everytime. Seems like some other users have had this issue too, but it looks like its lasted a few months now. Disabling hardware acceleration has worked for some people. http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=385146
So it's a Chrome bug after all. Good to see it documented, that's of some help. I thought i found the issue due to the Chrome extension 'HTTPS Everywhere' which turns weblinks into https ones. Google.com was https in the first tab. I disabled the extension and was ok. It's very random. I've disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome settings. Thank You.
