Seeking alternative to ZA Pro

    gah... that's not fair! Outpost's acs.exe is using around 35K on my machine and op_mon.exe about 2.5K. Better than ZAP (which was running about 50K total) but not by much.

    Interesting.

    So the casual user, like me, and a seeker of the lowest resouces using application could be easily duped into think theyre using something much lighter than it really is. Which is a big deal with todays security applications.

    I am using ZAPRO and it is lighter then the previous . I like it so far:thumb:

    I do not recommend disabling indexing; rather, scale back waht is indexed. I have some screen prints of how here for those interested.

    Hi AKAJohnDoe:

    I have indexing turned off but on XP ,or are you are saying it is needed for your vista based FW SW?

    I use BlackViper as well, excellent reference point.

    If indexing is fully turned off on Vista there will be "ramifications". There is no need by anything other than the OS to index anything AFAIK.

    Hopefully, you have the ZA PRO suite on a different PC than the Avira suite?


    Otherwise, it is 99% certain you will have ramifications. :'(
