    Hi,

Just out of curiosity, why SecureAnywhere™ Mobile has a resident signature database and WSA Antivirus not?

SecureAnywhere™ Mobile is installed on a less performing device - a phone- with less performing processor and less/more expensive RAM; yet, has a resident signature database.

The same principle applies to cell phones - if you are not connected to internet you cannot get infected, so why a totally different approach compared with WSA Antivirus?

    Thanks,
    Claudiu

Are you talking about the iOS or Android version? As you may not be able to take the same approach on both platforms.

I guess different OS, different malware context and, most of all, different development team :D

    Thank you for your answer!

I am curious ,though, how the other "different development team" (if there is any!) can advocate using a traditional signature database in a device which is clearly more suitable for a cloud approach....

Can you mention a reputable fully cloud AV on Android? I am not sure there is one yet...
You should not look for complicated reasons for different choices. It could be simply the former webroot developers dealing with android version rather then the former prevx team ;)

Mobile was developed and released before SecureAnywhere was, so it must be the old tech.

Mobile devices don't have as reliable connectivity as PCs and have far fewer threats so a local definition database is preferred for the time being.

I mean fully cloud like WSA for desktop. What you cite is just like most AVs out there. A mix of signature and cloud. Not a full cloud. Nice try.. next? :D
