Hi i wonder if there is a gui or app for linux that does the same stuff as east-tec-eraser or EE does in Win, cleans out the stuff from surfing and so on in linux. Im trying to make a secure Asus EEE So im using gOS witch works very very well on EEE. You can run win apps inside it no problem. I was wondering if Crome is better to use then firefox? How to turn off swap file and such in linux. gOS is ubuntu from the start and can run google widgets on the desktop. Anyone care to join me in creating a nice little computer that is ultra secure?
File deletion in Linux. Wipe http://wipe.sourceforge.net/ http://www.ubuntugeek.com/tools-to-delete-files-securely-in-ubuntu-linux.html Shred http://linux.about.com/library/cmd/blcmdl1_shred.htm dd http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/learn-the-dd-command-362506/ Not sure if that is what you need.
Thank you, i have read all about them before. Now the problem is that you have too specified the files you want to delete, i want like a gui or command that will run automatic and clear up special files like firefox and swap files and so on. Just like evidience eliminator does in win. And what browser would you preffer to use, crome or firefox, rome runs sandboxed automatic witch makes it safer, but what is this about uniq id and so on.
That's a squirley question, for sure. Most of the Linux community prefers a command line format. You can always create a batch script with the listed tools. Linux people don't like to do everything with a gui. Sort of anti object oriented.
What would be nice, a linux tool to access the Secure Erase Function and Enhanced Secure Erase. I wonder if that gui would access dd, wipe or shred? You could build it in smalltalk.
There's an option in Bleachbit settings for Overwrite, to what extent it overwrites is not known by me You could ask at their Forum
