    Hello markusjd,

I would first like to point out that your Windows in not up-to-date. Go to Windows Update and update all critical files.

    Next, Download: "StartDreck", from here:
    http://members.blackbox.net/hp_links/21/ni.../startdreck.htm

Unzip to its own folder and start the program,

    Press 'Config'
    Press 'Unmark All'

    Check the following boxes only:
    Registry -> Run Keys
    System/drivers> Running processes
    Press 'Ok'

Press 'Save' and select the location to save the log file
(default is the same folder as the application)

Post the log in this thread.

    Hello markusjd,

I am going to have you download this below. The one I posted before was by my error. Sorry, no harm done. It was for Win98 not XP. So, just bare with me.

    Download this file from
    http://downloads.subratam.org/dllfix.exe

The file when downloaded will be dllfix.exe
Double-Click or Open the self-extracting file. It will ask for installation and change location. Please Keep it on the Desktop.

Navigate to the folder with the contents of the file. You will see there are two more folders inside and two BAT files.

    Run start.bat

Run the Option 1. for report.
Once the search is complete a ".txt" file should pop up with the name "Output.txt". Keep it and post it here.

    Hi Mark,

Run start.bat again and choose option 2. Hit '1' and enter dll name manually:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\CDAHI.DLL

Download and run AdAware : http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/ (make sure you have latest updates) and run it.

Also run CWShredder finally to clean up other entries.

Post a new HijackThis log when you are done.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Silly me. :(

This is the one you want to get rid off:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\SQLE.DLL

CDAHI.DLL will be removed by AdAware once that is done.

    Regards,

    Pieter

    Hi Markus,

That is strange. Not sure if that is because your Windows is not updated.

Check the items listed below in HijackThis, close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll/sp.html (obfuscated)

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3FF3FDF9-3AFD-45AC-AB49-D82808384988} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cdahi.dll

    Then reboot.

If you still can't get rid of it you may have to use the Revovery Console

    Regards,

    Pieter

Your choice. If you are on broadband I'd look on it as a general rehearsal if it didn't help. If you are on dial-up and you are thinking about reformatting, I would do that first.

    Regards,

    Pieter
